Please double check the dimensions of your particular site reservation to ensure the site will meet your equipment needs. Advanced backing skills are required for certain sites. Roadways are narrow and all sites have back-in access to parking pads (there are no pull through sites). Max, most sites are much smaller than this). Many sites are small and may not accommodate large modern RVs or trailers (25 ft. Lizard Creek Campground is a rustic and quaint campground. Campers can find ice and firewood for purchase at the campground office. The campground provides trash collection and recycling receptacles. When making a reservation please utilize site photographs and dimensions to ensure a proper fit for your recreational vehicle and party. Site parking pads, areas for tents and distance from parking pad to campsites can vary greatly in size. All sites have picnic tables, fire rings and bear-proof food storage boxes. Potable water can be found dispersed regularly throughout the campground. The facility is equipped with three conveniently located comfort stations which provide flush toilets and camper sinks. Nearly half of the sites are walk-in tent sites which provide for a more uniquely private and dispersed camping experience than found at other campgrounds in GTNP. The campground offers tent camping and pull-in/back-in sites for RVs or trailers up to 25ft. The Lizard Creek Campground provides the perfect location for visitors to GTNP looking to avoid the crowds and who don’t need more than the basic amenities. This Campground is normally one of the last campgrounds to open and first to close for the season in the park and can often see quickly changing weather patterns. The area is frequented by various park wildlife, large and small as well as a variety of bird species. This 60-site campground sits on the northern shore of Jackson Lake and offers access to the lake waters and views of the northern Teton Mountain Range. The coffee they sell in the convenience store is also the same local brand provided in the room to use w/ coffee maker, tasted fine to us.The Lizard Creek Campground is located in the northern portion of Grand Teton National Park (GTNP) and provides a convenient basecamp for campers taking day trips to both Grand Teton and Yellowstone National Parks. Plan ahead, get a unit w/ a fridge and stove top, buy some groceries in Jackson, you wont save money since those are the most expensive units but at least you'll have something to your liking to eat, it's a long drive to Jackson for dinner. They have "enhanced" grab and go options since the restaurant is closed, "enhanced" means sandwiches and salads, and boy do you pay dear for for what you get, over $10 for what is essentially a subway sandwich, were soggy by the time we got them. I paid $5 for a small "ok" blueberry muffin for breakfast not including coffee. In addition, the prices in the convenience store (only place on site to get food, lite groceries, coffee or snacks) were absolutely insane. Overall we had a very pleasant stay but given lack of amenities this year, I'm not sure it warrants the outrageous price tag. Didn't see any animals nearby except deer. We did not find the drive from here to other notable sights in the park very long. Parked right behind the unit w/ no issues. The island they tell you that you can visit on the canoe is a lot farther than it looks! The view of the lake was super nice from the room. Word if you're going to rent a canoe, that lake is super clear and deep right off shore, make sure you're comfortable in a kayak w/ motor boats passing by in extremely deep water. We rented a canoe one afternoon from the marina office. Our room was a min drive to the convenience store for coffee in the morning and other groceries. The outside balcony is shared w/ a small gate to neighbors, that I was not expecting, but the balcony was very big. I got worried when I saw the signage in the room about keeping door shut to keep animals out and warning about hantavirus.then I realized there are chipmunks everywhere on the balcony which did not bother me. Our room was very nice and very clean, the area around the door inside the unit had spider webs but this is supposed to be a lakefront cabin feel after all. Husband and I stayed 3 nights in what they call an upper lakefront retreat unit in early Oct 2020.
